i5 South Accident Today: One person was rescued after a rollover crash shut down

i5 south accident today: A serious rollover crash involving multiple vehicles shut down most southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton early Wednesday morning, causing major traffic disruptions and leaving one person seriously injured.

According to emergency officials, the collision was reported shortly before 1:45 a.m. on southbound I-5 near the Aliso Creek Rest Area. Authorities said three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a semi-truck that overturned and blocked three traffic lanes.

Fire crews and emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, where one person was found trapped inside the wreckage. Rescue teams worked to extricate the victim before the individual was airlifted to Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with serious injuries. Another person involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The crash caused extensive delays for motorists traveling through the area during the early morning hours. As of approximately 3:45 a.m., only one southbound lane remained open while crews continued clearing debris and investigating the incident. Officials warned that the remaining lanes could stay closed for several more hours as recovery operations continued.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the rollover crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while emergency crews worked to safely reopen the interstate.

The incident serves as another reminder of the dangers drivers can face during overnight travel on busy California freeways.
