AUSTIN/TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A devastating crash on Farm-to-Market Road 1431 in Jonestown, northwest of Austin, has left one person dead and another in critical condition following a serious two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), emergency crews were dispatched to the scene near Pecan Drive shortly before noon, around 11:57 a.m., in response to a reported vehicle rescue. Upon arrival, responders discovered a severe crash involving two vehicles with significant damage.
Tragically, one adult was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. The loss has deeply impacted the local community as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision.
A second adult involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of their condition, the patient was airlifted by STAR Flight to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for urgent treatment. Medical teams continue to work to stabilize the critically injured victim.
Travis County Emergency Services District 1 also responded alongside ATCEMS to assist with rescue operations, traffic control, and scene management. The roadway was temporarily affected while emergency crews worked to secure the area and provide aid.
At this time, officials have not released information regarding what led to the crash, and the cause remains under active investigation. It is currently unclear whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the incident.
Authorities are urging any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage from the FM 1431 and Pecan Drive area around the time of the crash to come forward to assist investigators.
