Accident on i-70 Right Now: Washington County Interstate 70 Westbound

Accident on i-70 Right Now: A serious tractor-trailer accident with heavy entrapment has shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Washington County near the 13-mile marker. Emergency crews from Clear Spring Fire & EMS, Hancock Fire & EMS, Williamsport Fire, and Washington County Special Operations remain on scene working to assist those involved and clear the crash site.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and expect major delays as westbound I-70 remains closed until further notice. Due to the shutdown, traffic has significantly increased along Martinsburg Road between Berkeley Springs and Hedgesville, as tractor-trailers and other drivers seek alternate routes.

Officials say many westbound drivers are attempting to reconnect with I-70, while eastbound travelers are diverting toward Interstate 81. Drivers in the surrounding areas should use caution, expect congestion, and allow extra travel time.

Authorities have not yet released information regarding injuries or when the interstate is expected to reopen. Further updates are expected as the investigation and recovery efforts continue.
