MARION, Ohio: Authorities in Marion, Ohio, have arrested a 15-year-old following a shooting Wednesday afternoon that left one person injured and caused damage to multiple homes, according to the Marion Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Oak and Chestnut streets. Upon arrival, police began securing the area and gathering information about the incident. Officials later confirmed that one victim had arrived at Marion General Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound before being transferred to a hospital in Columbus for further treatment. Authorities stated the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
In addition to the injured victim, investigators reported that at least three homes in the neighborhood were struck by gunfire during the incident. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported among residents or bystanders.
A nearby resident provided Ring doorbell footage capturing the sound of dozens of gunshots followed by a vehicle speeding away from the scene. The footage has become part of the ongoing investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the shooting involved individuals both inside a vehicle and on foot. Police believe the violence stemmed from an ongoing dispute between those involved.
Marion police confirmed that all individuals connected to the shooting have been identified and located. The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody, though officials have not yet released additional details regarding possible charges.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence and witness statements related to the incident.
