WEST POINT, Utah: Authorities in West Point confirmed that a lockdown at West Point Junior High was lifted Friday after deputies investigated a reported threat made against the school.
According to officials with the Utah Department of Public Safety, the precautionary lockdown was initiated while law enforcement officers conducted a thorough investigation to determine whether any danger existed on campus. Deputies responded quickly and carried out both primary and secondary searches of the school grounds and surrounding areas.
After completing the sweeps, authorities determined there was no active threat to students or staff. School operations later returned to normal, although deputies remained at the campus temporarily as a precautionary measure and to maintain a visible security presence.
Officials have not yet released information regarding the exact nature of the threat, and no further details were immediately available. The Davis School District has also not publicly commented on the incident.
The situation is part of a growing number of school-related threats reported across Utah in recent days. Earlier this week, Provo High School experienced a lockdown after receiving a suspicious call, while Alta High School canceled classes due to a threatening report.
Authorities continue reminding the public that all school threats are treated seriously and encourage anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement immediately.
