Her sudden death has left family, friends, readers, students, and animal rescue supporters devastated, as they come to terms with the loss of a woman whose kindness and creativity touched countless lives.
Annie was widely known as a gifted author, educator, and passionate advocate for animal welfare. Through her heartfelt contemporary fiction and small-town romance novels inspired by the Missouri Ozarks, she brought warmth, authenticity, and emotional depth to readers around the world. Many of her stories reflected her lifelong compassion for animals and her belief in healing, hope, and second chances.
A graduate of Missouri State University, where she earned a master’s degree in creative writing, Annie also dedicated part of her life to teaching English and communications at Arkansas State University. Her students remember her as a patient mentor who encouraged confidence, imagination, and kindness in every classroom.
Beyond her literary and academic achievements, Annie devoted herself to rescuing homeless animals, caring for feral cats, and supporting rescue organizations nationwide. Her generosity and tireless advocacy made her a beloved figure in both literary and animal welfare communities.
Annie is survived by her husband Matt, her son Jude, her parents Paula and Gregg, and her brother Luke along with his family. Her passing has created an immeasurable loss, but her legacy continues through her writing, her students, and the many lives she improved.
A celebration of life service will be held on June 12, 2026, in West Plains, Missouri, where loved ones, readers, and friends will gather to honor her memory.
